Ruth M. (Carey) Jencks, 91, formerly of Hawkeye, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Memorial services are pending and will be held at a later date in Hawkeye. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye is assisting Ruth’s family.                    

Ruth Margaret Carey Jencks was born April 24, 1923. On August 2, 1942, she was married to Virgil Jencks. The couple resided in the Hawkeye, Waucoma, and West Union area. Ruth was a homemakler whose passion was baking for friends and neighbors. She moved to Las Vegas in 2012.

Ruth is survived by her son, Warren (Sandy) Jencks of Hawkeye; one daughter, Myrtis Smith of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a brother, Gene Carey of Springfield, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Carol and son-in-law, Charles Weidemann; and one brother, Wayne Carey.
